当翻译遇见“突然”，你是否还是只会用suddenly？这里有七个可以替换suddenly的表达法，它们都含有“突然”的语义，可以用来替换suddenly，但它们的语义和使用场景也有若干不同，今天我们就带来了解一下。
一、out of the blue（突如其来）
这是一个短语的缩写版，全称是out of the blue sky，有点像中文的“晴天霹雳”，但来的不一定是坏事，也不一定是大事。不过一定是意想不到突然发生的事。

二、all of a sudden（突然之间）
这是一个比suddenly更文学化的说法，通常用在讲故事，或者叙述过去的事。注意all of a sudden是一个固定短语，
四个词都不可以随意替换。
I was startled when all of a sudden, the lights went out, and fire alarms went off.
突然间，灯灭了，火警响起来了，吓了我一跳。
三、all at once（突然间）
和all of a sudden语义相近。
No man ever became thoroughly bad all at once.
从未有人突然间完全变坏。
all at once还有另一个语义，指“同时（做几件事）”
四、without warning（毫无征兆地）
warning指“警告”，没有警告，毫无征兆，突然间，坏事就发生了。
The bridge collapsed without any warning.
没有任何征兆地，大桥就塌下去了。
五、at/on short notice（在短时间内）
notice指“通知，被告知”，指所述之事很快就要发生。英式英语中多用on，美式英语中用at。
Thank you for coming at such short notice.
谢谢你这么快就赶来了。
六、abruptly（突如其来）
相比于suddenly，abruptly的“突然”有一点不愉快的含义，比如电视剧突然被掐断改播广告。
The interview ended abruptly.
访谈突然间就那么结束了。
七、on the spur of the moment（一时冲动）
spur作名词原意指“马刺”，按在靴子后侧，骑马时用来踢马，使其快走。
这里短语on the spur of the moment指的是“不加思考，凭直觉决定”。
On the spur of the moment, we decided to head north that day instead of East.
我们一时冲动，决定不东行，而改为北上。
